This handbook is intended to guide English language students of the upper grades (according to the European Framework of Reference at the levels of B1–B2+) through a variety of chapters about American history and culture. In parts, it contains materials to help them to prepare for their school-leaving exams in English, including not only reading and listening tasks but also language in use, writing and speaking exercises. The use of a variety of types of activities as well as various forms of media enhances students’ motivation and makes the featured content as memorable as possible.
About the Author
Mag. Dr. Doris Liederer was born on the 8th of August 1984 and is a teacher of English and Italian at BORG Dreierschützengasse in Graz, Austria, as well as a lecturer in the field of didactics for the program of English and American Studies at Karl-Franzens-University Graz. During her M. A. studies she worked and studied in the United States, Italy, and the United Kingdom enhancing her expertise and completing her training in the field of didactics.
Her handbook on American culture and literature is intended to guide English language students in the upper grades of high school through a variety of chapters of American history and culture by providing multi-faceted materials addressing various skills.
Doris Liederer is of the firm belief that anyone can acquire a foreign language, and that competent teachers can be highly supportive, whether the language learning process is based on joy, intrinsic motivation, or sustainability.
